A64 3500@2550mhz to X2 3800@overclocked - worth it?

In my opinion, if your computer is used for gaming, it wouldn't be worth it: spending money effectively just for the sake of it? You would not notice any difference in games at all.

If you're a photoshopper/CAD modeller/general workstation user then it would as the two cores would effectively half the workload (not quite but it's academic).

In terms of system useability, having two cores makes the process a lot smoother as they balance Windows' workload, although this helped greatly by a suitable storage setup.

Is it worth it for the outlay? No, IMHO.

If the money is burning a hole in your pocket, however, who am I to suggest otherwise?

I use PC for games (not as much as I used to) but mainly for work, music progs, photoshop, Dvix encoding etc

Im happy with speed of PC now, but its a socket 939 - if I dont buy one now I may never be able to get an upgrade again???
