Just a quick one. I got an A64 3800 oem, I've mounted the Freezer, but it looks like the copper base of the heatsink isn't covering the entire processor.

I was under the impression that the entire processor had to be covered by the heatsink for it to be cooled properly? But how it is at the moment, there's a thin 5mm (or so) gap around the heatsink.

Does this mater or am I being paranoid? I don't really want my new processor to overheat :\

The IHS (the metal cover of the CPU) is much bigger than the actual CPU die underneath it, so don't worry your cooler will be covering the important area.

Yeah it'll be fine, this is my X2 3800+ where you can see how small the core is.

I'm glad for the IHS.

Less repeats of the Socket A "Am I going to scrape chunks off the core" experience when putting on and taking off heatsinks.
