A64 Controlling fan speed?

Stupid question, but is my Opty controlling the fan speed? The CPU fan tends to speed up to full whack every 10 so or minutes for a shortish (5+ mins) while.

Is this normal and how can I disable it?
 
Your bios has setting for fan speed adjustment depending upon what temperature you have specified. ie. Fan on full if CPU temp - 50 degrees. Check your bios screens.
