A64 X2 Dual core - which drivers!

So far AMD have 2 drivers out, one is the dual core optimizer and the 2nd is the driver itself for A64 processors.

I am running Both of these

- Dual core optimizer version 1.0.0.0083
- Athlon64 Processor Driver version 1.2.2.2 (though the AMD USA site has a newer version on!)

MS also have a hotfix under the KB article number [KB896256] which I have installed.

Just wanted to know, anyone else here using all 3? are all 3 needed?

I've found out now the processor driver is only needed if you wnat cool & quiet - the dual core optimiser is *** dealy to go for

Not sure if it's just me but I got an error "C:/boot.ini cannot be opened" when installing the dual core optimiser. Does anyone have the same problem??

I wonder if it has anything to do with my Chinese WinXP??

it's a driver, not a software that runs in the bg like normal

had smiler type off error but only seems to happen if you have stripe raid running and have no idea why

well folks, i had a similar issue with the cant accces boot.ini but i found the solution online.

I had to install the drivers via my computer>hardware then installing the drivers manualy.

All cool and quiet since then.

I'm not running any raid setup but both my hard drives are running from the ULI raid controller.
