Everytime that i boot my pc up after it has been off for a few hours i am getting a warning message about the fan speed. Its saying that the fan speed has fallen below a certain speed and that i should press F1 to continue.

I have looked in the bios and have set the minimum speed warning to 800 rpm but the message still appears next time. There dont seem to be any problems when the pc is running, and it boots fine after the initial boot up.

I have speedfan installed and this reports that all my temps are running at about 45 C. Just looking at the heatsink and fan and they seem to be ok (fan seems to be spinning properly). I have also put some new thermal paste on the chip.

I have just updated the BIOS so maybe this will help, but i am not very confident. Problem is i cant tell if its fixed it until i switch it on tomorrow!

I have had a read around the net and it seems that a few people have similar problems with the same motherboard, but i cant find any definitive answers.

Has any one had this or a similar problem and managed to fix it or have any advice?

AMD 939 3200

I turned the fan speeds off. Do you really care what speed your fan is or is not going?

Ditto

I have a big typhoon and it keeps my CPU cool enough while running at less than 600rpm sometimes (that is the minimum you can have the asus probe setting).

I just disable that fan monitor. If it stops working, the CPU will get hotter and trigger that other alarm. Then I can worry about it.

I suppose what you are saying makes sense. As long as the CPU temp alarm is still on then i should not have anything to worry about.

The CPU alarm is currently set to 60 C would this be about right?

I get the same message, but i dont think its the fan on the CPU, Mines the fan on the Mobo, When i start my Pc up the fan makes a right noise. I've gotta shut it down and restart it a couple of times before it shuts up. The Mobo is less than a month old.

That is a warning that the fan is full of dust and muck and ready to fail. Keep an eye on the thing and be ready to replace it. :) (You could try dismantling it and squirting a bit of Teflon based oil (ie GT85) in it.... but quality replacement will be best)

Nah its not full of dust just checked, I only bought the mobo 4 weeks ago from here. Seems like the fan is on its way out. Could this be a case for RMA'ing

Probally not worth the hassle of an RMA. You'd be without a computer for a couple of weeks if you RMA'd, as well as the time wasted in dismantling everything.

I'd just buy a higher quality fan and swap them. ;)

What about one of the zalman silent ones? If i was changing the chipset fan, I'd be looking for a silent soution as opposed to another small whiney fan.

Not sure if it would fit though - i think it depends on the size of the graphics card you have as some are really long and would get in the way of the fins. Im sure someone knows for sure.

Used one on my old Nf7-S and it was great.

Zalman ZM-NB47J Northbridge Cooler :)

The ZM-NB47J is compatible with all Northbridge chipsets that do not have a built-in graphics chipset. Note - ZM-NB47J cannot be used on motherboards that lack mounting holes around the Northbridge chipset

Got one here to replace the tiny noisy northbridge fan :)

Just over a fiver from this very site
