I know this is silly, but i put in a creative sound blaster live (model CT4780) pci card into the asus A8n Sli premium board. I know there are issues with this set up, but can it really kill the bois chip on the asus board. Im sure this is what has happened. I know of this situation with a A8N sli deluxe, and another creative live card killing a board, but im at a loss to as why it happens, and is there another way round apart from getting another bois chip for the motherboard ?

I didnt really want to use the creative live card , as was reluctant to put it in , and to my ears the creative live card has a better bass & treble response than the onboard audio ( the A8N audio was borked in the first place thus why i HAD to use a pci card). Using the said creative live card was prelude to me getting a x-fi card for my media pc, but as it is ive had to replace the board and currently sticking with the nforce audio this new board supplys.
