I've got a bit of a problem, my a8n32 isn't booting, when you turn on it skips the splash screen etc with options for entering the bios, the first text on the screen is offering me the f4 to RAID option, pressing any key or leaving it results in no boot (although it did boot a couple of times like this??).

I've done the cmos jumper thing and no joy, held insert and booted (according to the threads I've read its ins not delete on this board) no joy.. whipped the battery out, no joy..

is there any point to leaving the battery out for any length of time? I'm going to get on feeding/bathing the kids so it'll probably be out for 3 hours or so but am I fooling myself here?

Any other tips?

basically what I'm asking is do I leave the battery out with the cmos jumper on? in the clear position? power to the mobo (but not switched on) etc etc..

guidance please for a sure fire cmos reset!

1. Remove AC power cord
2. Press power on button to drain any power left in the board
3. Remove battery
4. move jumper from save to clear postion
5. Leave for minimum of 10 seconds (i prefer to leave at least a minute).
6. Move jumper back to save
7. replace battery
9. Plug in and power on.

I did nearly that, just switched the psu off at the psu rather than removing the plug, cmos jumper to clear then battery out for about 2 hours.

Did the trick :)

You moved the jumper to clear BEFORE removing the battery

Always thought that would screw the bios but hey it works so happy days eh :)
