Nooo and Ryan Phillippe is in the running for the role of D.A. Harvey Dent, a.k.a. the future Two-Face.

Hmmmm

Jack Nicholason and Tommy Lee Jones vs Heath Ledger and Ryan Phillipe.

Hummm, a one line post followed by another.
Do you fancy giving us a little more information?
Why do you feel that either of these potential castings are going to be a problem?
Or is it just a matter of "Well that was unexpected - it will be rubbish"?

Over the years in many, many hundreds of films unexpected castings have been made and in many, many hundreds of films those castings have been pulled off and the end result has been excellent - to the point where people have said "That role was written for that actor".

Why don't you think Heath Ledger will make a good Joker?
If you are expecting a character like Nicholson's then your wrong as we all know that the Joker this time around is going to be a lot darker than the one of old.

I don't know i just see him as such a pretty boy. Maybe he will be good in the part. Its just kinda hard to think of anyone else as The Joker apart from Jack Nicholson. Shame they didn't get Tim Curry for the role (although he is getting on a bit.)

IMO the only person capable of following the legend that is Jack "Banged every lady on the Planet" Nicholason, is Christian "The New and not quite as good Jack Nicholason" Slater.

IMO CS is the new JN. He would never play the part as well, but he would give a fairly faithful portrayal.

I cant think of anyone else that could perform the part. In fact why even bother with a reprisal of the Joker Character? It was done brilliantly the first time.

Just remember!...

The Joker, as in the original DC comics, and later Tim Burton Cartoons (Mark "Luke I'm you'r Father" Hammels Voice was Perfect for him!!), and even Cesar Romero in the 60's TV show, was Tall (about 6'1" like Batman) and Thin, but Strong (Some would say Superhuman!)... Jack Nicholson (although had the rite look!!) is Short and Fat! (well a bit Porky!!)... Heath is... Tall and Thin!!.. (ish).

I recon heath'll do a good job in the role!!, People were a bit worried about Christian Bale as Batman if I remember!... and He's (so Far) the best!..

Christian Bale > Michael Keaton > Val Kilmer > Adam West > George Clooney.

When you say "Done Brilliantly" you are referring to the OTT Joker character.
What we should be seeing in "The Dark Knight" is a much darker Joker.
Nicholson wouldn't be able to pull that character off.
There is no denying that Nicholson's Joker was great but it isn't the same Joker we will see the next time around.

In the same way that Keaton's Batman was great - I'm not convinced at all that he could do a better job than Bale with the much darker character.

I must be the only one that thinks that Jack Nicholson wasn't all THAT good in the role of Joker. When I look back at the first Batman now, it's just not what I'm wanting from the Joker. So, I'm going to say "hmm" just now to the Heath Ledger idea. I think he might just do it.

So if its not Heath Ledger who would you suggest?

Tim Curry - (Burtons second choice for the original Batman) - Bit old and fat.
Johnny Depp? - Hmm, maybe better for the Riddler role

This actually sounds like good news, he could make a perfect joker. He has that 'everyday guy' look but he has that crazy smile. Jack Nicholson was fantastic as Joker but he already had that 'comic book' persona in real life already so i never expected anything except an over the top theatrical character.

Ledger could pull this off easily, read killing joke for a great insight into the joker and where he came from.

slater definatly has the eye brows and facial features for it so i do see where your going with that :)

but as for heath, the guys a good actor and has played some bloody challenging roles in his time in order to portray more tha just a "pretty boy" so i say good luck to him.

Nothing to do with him doing JN's role in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in theaters at the moment then? ;)

I do think Depp has more instant appeal as the Joker than Ledger, but I can see how Ledger could work

Michael Keaton>*

I thought Christian Bale did an excellent job and I'm looking forward to the next film.

Batman, Batman Returns and Batman Begins are far and away the best Batman films, the rest were absolute plonk.

christian bale = good as batman...

chritian bales put on gruff voice for batman = laughably crap...

Its going to be tough for Heath Ledger to pull this off imo. Everyone knows the joker as being jack, his smile and personality in the film was just absolutely perfect for the character. I dont think anyone could do a better job but you cant say much now until you see the film really.

Neither - Hugo Weaving would be my choice.

Perhaps he will make a good joker but its just quite hard to picture it from the films I've seen him in. I think Paul Bettany would have been a better choice.
