Aaagh! 360 dilemma! urgent help needed!

I've had my 360 since the beginning of 2006. It's basically been faultless. I had a 3rrod in 2007, it scared the poo out of me, but I turned the console off and on again, this fixed it

The second time was in the middle of last year, I got the rings again. This time my on/off trick didn't work. I tried a few things, none of them worked. So I unplugged my 360, rotated it to become vertical, turned it on, and hey presto! Perfectly fine. :rolleyes:

Then in the middle of last month I got those damned rings again :eek:

. My usual fixes seemed to have lost their potency, I was really itching to play so I searched google for all the things to try, and tried for days to get my 360 working, with no luck. Seriously I did all I could, nothing rescued it from the hell to which it had descended. So a few days ago I called up microsoft and it turned out they'd repair it for free

. So a few minutes ago I took the bubble wrap downstairs to wrap it in as the UPS guy will be coming tomorrow. I need to take out the disc, I thought. So I turned on my 360 to see if anything was in there...and WTF?!?!?! my 360 is fine and perfectly working!! :confused:

What should I do now? I can tell the UPS guy that it is ok, but then will he/she charge me for coming out? Or I can send it off to be repaired, as I don't want this happening again and my DVD drive is dodgy, but then would Microsoft charge me for the repair? Help

i'd either send it off (my original one wasnt RROD everytime when it was sent) or trade it in while its still working and get a new one

but would they charge me if it worked fine when they receive it?

i wasnt charged, they changed the motherboard. i think mine only got RROD once, but was working fine when i sent it.

oh ok, I think I'll send it off when the UPS van turns up tomorrow, but right now, it's back to gears of war

I decided to play some games, seeing as it's working. but as soon as I want to use it, it contracts 3rrod again

my sons done the same on new years eve, sent back to ms without the 3rrod but locking up and unusable. if its a 2006 model they will prob change mobo anyway as they know which boards/models are dodgy anyway... shoul;d have been a recall if you ask me for the amount of boxes that eventually pack up!!!!

If it has happened that many times then they should certainly be able to identify it by the board even if it isn't occuring there and then.

ummm im waiting for mine to die its not far from the three yeay warrenty but i rarely use it so probably wont die till the warrenty is up.

have been thinking of sending it tho its ok tbh.

Just mention when you sign up for the repair that it RRoDths periodically. MS wont question it.

They'll more than likely send you a replacement 360 rather than repair yours which is what happened to me over Christmas. Shame it wasn't a new one though

hopefully I'll get one where the dvd drive works
