This is doing my nut in. I'm on my 4th 56 pointer on my 3700 @ 2.7...

Yes they wont take long.. but i've got a P3 that keeps getting the 200 pointers and they take about a week to dump :(

Why cant things ever get good with this folding malarky :p And give me some bloody good WU's :D

I had one of those on nearly EVERY cruncher a few weeks back, they suck
 
Yeah, they are pants. But... a big WU doesn't necessarily mean a good WU. You can get 400-pointers which are absolute pigs where some of the 90-point WUs are quite nice. It's all in the PPD :)
 
if you keep getting the same WUs over and over it's probably as your client just keeps asking the same server as it's not being forced to look around for other work

to break the cycle you can try configuring for deadlineless work (though don't select "fetch/return work in batches" or you'll end up with 10) or try adding/removing advmethods which should force a change of server the next time you connect for work

hopefully you can get yourself a run of large WUs instead, though Mattus does speak the truth when it comes to larger WUs not necessarily being better
 
What are peoples ppd like on these 56 and 116 pointers then? I'm getting 180-186 on the 56ers and 175-180 on the 116ers. Thats a 2.87 clocked opty 148.
 
Barton 2500+ at stock gets just over 100ppd for both
XP1700@2100 (210x10) is averaging about 120ppd for the 56 pointers (Fahmon says up to 145ppd at times - not sure on that)

I haven't had any on my X2 as it's on beta testing, though the 180 point Gromacs I'm getting on that are only getting me 100ppd :(
 
Might have to get the parents' 2500+ folding, 100ppd isnt too bad. Its out of service atm due to ridiculous temps :( but a g-power pro should be on the way soon.

100ppd on the X2 :eek: what speed is it at? I presume thats per core.

yep that's per core - X2 3800 at stock due to crazy temps in my rubbísh over-insulated under-windowed house :o

it does however get 240-300ppd on double Gromacs WUs which the other core seems to be happily stuck on at the moment so it averages out i guess :cool:
 
Yeah... larger in size tends to mean the WUs are better, because a lot of them are bonus WUs, but larger in points doesn't always mean they're great.

Don't have any Intel hardware folding at the moment, but my laptop should be here on Weds (1.66Ghz Core Duo.) Wonder how it will fold?

Meanwhile, we edge closer to 50kppd and those Lithuanians are back on the radar! :cool:

DGromacs are very tasty, got several in a row a while back which was great.

Avg. Time / Frame : 4mn 59s - 352.54 ppd

Nice lappy Mattus. And "edging"? We had over 50k yesterday :D keep it up folks
