Hi,

Have any of you guys used AAISP, IDNet or Xilo as your ISP? If so, what did you think of them? I'm specifically looking at the following packages, however any input is very welcome!

ISP: AAISP
Package: Home::1
Features: BT 21CN network, 50GB anytime allowance, 1x IPv4 address, /48 block of IPv6 address space
Price: £35 p/m including PSTN line

ISP: IDNet
Package: Broadband & Basic Phone Line "Pro"
Features: BT 21CN network, 100GB anytime allowance, 1x IPv4 address, /48 block of IPv6 address space
Price: £37.80 p/m including PSTN line

ISP: Xilo
Package: Talk & Surf Unmetered
Features: TTB/CPW/Opal LLU network, Unmetered, 1x IPv4 address, advanced line profiling
Price: £22.99 p/m including PSTN line

Obviously looking at the price alone, Xilo is the clear winner. However I'm unsure about their support and specifically, their use of the TTB/CPW LLU network. This has the advantage of proper line profiling, unlike the mess that is BT's line profiling - my router syncs at ~3050kbps, so I'd be limited to 2.5Mbps on BT, whereas I'd get the full speed with the LLU service.

I've heard A&A have stellar support, however the 50GB cap is a small concern (I push between 40GB & 60GB p/m). IDNet are in the middle somewhere, plenty of bandwidth, decent support (apparently) and a full native /48 block of IPv6 address space would be handy, although not a deal breaker.

So chaps - any experience with the ISP's listed? If anyone is on Xilo's TTB/CPW LLU network I'd be very interested to know.

Thanks,

Kona*

If you only sync at 3050kbps on 21CN then you won't get much, if any more, on an LLU service. It's still ADSL so you're still limited by your line attenuation.

I can vouch for AAISP's support - you actually get to speak to someone who knows more about what's going on than you do which is a bit of a revelation. Unfortunately it's office hours only unless it's a major outage.

Every encounter I've had with Xilo has been positive. They're a little cheaper than Zen and are very nearly as good.

AAISP and IDNet are a bit more for power users, but you get what you pay for (good service).

I use Xilo at my parents house (In the country with no LLU or 21CN), no complaints. Reasonable prices, good performance all day, a decent web interface (where you can toggle Interleaving and view the connection status/history) and a rolling one month contract so I can change at any time.

The On/Off peak hours for the office range are great too, so I never came close to hitting the 40GB on peak cap, all my evening use was counted as off peak and unlimited.

We use AAISP as a backup line for testing external access to resources. It is also our Out of Band network and VPN termination. They are definitely a 'geeks' ISP, partly why we chose them as we ditched their router and stuck a cisco in which they are willing to support in an unofficial manner :)
