Hi peeps,

Got me a new bike shed built but a little tight on space for Paddock stand.

What are your thoughts with the Abba stand? easy to use/safe?

Abba stands are very easy to use one handed job my 84 year old mum could use one, I use a paddock stand but a friend has one and I would not say no to one myself.

Do you want a stand simply to keep the bike upright (rather than using sidestand) or do you want something for working on the bike?

yeah the abba stands are great for working on the bike but a bit fiddly to keep on doing every day. you have to take it apart and fit one side then the other and lift it up. Makes your bike really stable but takes a little longer than other stands.

a big yay from me... takes me 30secs to get the bike on it (once it's been set in the correct position)

Abba stands are simply brilliant for working on your bike, coupled with a front paddock stand and you have a rock solid platform for working on your bike with both wheels off the floor

I have one, build is good but it isn't that well designed. iIt really could have done with some rubber protection on the horizontal bit that sits along the ground, if the stand is used on concrete the paint chips off.

My only concern with using an Abba stand is if you put the bike on it incorrectly and the bike falls over it could cost you money, money, money.

Almost impossible to do this. I've had mine on and off several times and never had any issues fitting it.

Well both really, I do a good amount of tinkering but keeping the rear wheel in the air also!

Will get one anyways as will save space plus I can fettle with the front end on my bike suspension sag etc...

Now i need a nice place to get one from!

In my exprience an Abba stand is easier to get the bike up onto than a paddock stand - especially solo. You'd really have to be doing it in the dark and blind drunk to get the bike to fall off an Abba!

I've got one you can have for £30 if you fancy a drive over to Harrogate? Doesn't fit my GS (and it has a centre stand anyway)

got a stand for my bike and it is very good and easy to use. only thing ive found is it does make your bike a little where it fits at the mounting points but that may well be due to my bike and its fine on other bikes

Mine broke and tipped the bike on me. Footpeg into shin stopped bike from hitting the deck, and I caught the rest (250kg ish) with a diving catch and badly sprained wrist. Needless to say I wasn't keen on using it after that. The 'cup' seems to be made of soft metal that looks like it's torn.

Wrist got better, shin had what looked like a tennis ball jutting from it, and my foot turned black for a while (blood clot)!

Normal paddock stands for me!

only had the abba stand for the last 2 bikes gsxr1000 and cb1000r i could never get the hang of using a paddock stand on my own always thought i was going to drop it ,you get fitting kit for each bike about £20, stand is about £80. i leave mine on all winter too, would not go back to a paddock stand now gave mine away recently.
