The Abercrombie website blocks people from accessing the US website and only allows us to view the UK website so that we can't compare prices. They do the same with the Canadians, arguing that pond=dollar is ok. Is there any way to get past this blockage to view the American website? The .com webby loads fine, but when the upper tabs are clocked it says that the site is blocked. I've tried using some proxies but none work...
Any help?

will they ship to the UK from the US site? or is this purely for comparing prices and then hopping over to NY to buy stuff?

when i went to USA in July prices were just ridiculous it was pretty much the exact same in dollars for pounds! the mark up they must make is disgusting!

Argh not this again!

You can't compare different economies blah blah, search for a similar thread about vista price differences I cba to regurgitate the reasons.

I've already complained to them about it. I was happy to order from the US since even with shipping/VAT/import duty it was still good value.

Now the UK store has the audacity to charge £50 a polo shirt when it worked out at about £20/£25 in the US. The reply from A&F was worded as if they were doing me a favour by charging £50 since shipping and duty would be less. Ridiculous.

You have to remember, they are a buisness. If they can sell an item at high prices and people buy it, then they will as it makes them money.

If people simply refused to pay that much they would be forced to lower prices to a resonable ammount, but as long as there is demand that is willing to pay high prices, they will sell at high prices.

thanks for the replies, i'll try the translator method first thing. Proxies didn't want to work at all.
We have friends over there who can send the things from us, the savings still make it more than worth it. It's quite disgusting, they are charging more because they can. In the same way as many Poles work here for a bit then go back and live off their savings for a while, these people inflate the prices to stupid amounts and give us no alternative if we want the goods.

Hollister, Penguin and AE still ship to the UK at US prices. Check them out.

I just got back from the states (yesterday), and I blew a rather large amount in their stores. For reference these were the prices I found:

Hoodies: $70 = ~£35
Polos: $50 = ~£25
T-Shirts: $30 = ~£15

The staff in the US stores I have found to generally be quite pretentious but that might just be me...still, the prices are great!

Also, over there they have quite a lot of clearance stock in many of the stores and as such I picked up several T-Shirts which made the price difference even more ridiculous!

Good old rip off Britain.

Can someone explain the Google Translator trick to me?
I assumed it was going into translator then translating from some language into English, but it still doesn't work.
The splash page loads fine, followed by the second page. But from there I can't access the "Mens" or "Womens" sections. Is this the same with others? I've tried proxies and I can never get past this stage, if I even get close. I just get "The requested URL /webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10901&categoryId=12202 was not found on this server." as an error.
Any help would be great!

Just translate the website from something like Spanish to English.

The website is in English and therefore it will be displayed in English, and also it will show the website a USA IP Address and thus you can see the USA part of the website.
