Thought it might be nice to start a thread, although I don't know if any other OcUk'ers went?

First time out trying the 70-200 with a cheap 2.0x TC, I also thought I'd throw caution to the wind and try lower shutter speeds 1/60-1/125. All handheld, didn't end well! Although I did get some keepers :D

Dammit the Catalina *AND* the wing-walkers were there? They weren't on the line up. I woke up, looked at the low cloud and dull grey skies and decided not to get out of bed, typical!

Really excellent clean images, particularly considering the combination.
I shot the P51 last year on a 100-400 and your shot is so much clearer.

very jealous these are amazing in opinion , i am going to go to Waddington this year but have very limited budget so looking at a entry level telephoto, out of these 3 which do you rekon paired with a eos 550d (sorry for abbreviations i guess u know the lenses i mean

1) 55-250 canon is 4-5.6
2)tamron 70-300 4.56
3) sigma 70-300 apo 4.56
4) canon 70-300 usm

i have a budget of about £130 any recommendations welcome

The only lens I have used out of those is the Tamron 70-300 and I only had that for a short while. The extra reach is handy and 300mm will be useful for most aircraft. It will be short when the jets go high, but so is 500mm!

Just doing a search for the Tamron on Flickr comes up with this: http://www.flickr.com/groups/25824191@N00/pool/tags/airshow/

The Canon 50-250 has IS so may be a better option if you are using the lens for subjects other than aircraft? It's a nice well regarded lens for the money.
