ABit AA8XE - is it dead?

Basically my psu died at the weekend with a small bang and my machine turned off.

Ive got hold of a spare psu and now trying to power it on but when hitting the power button on my case nothing happens. Is this a sign of a dead motherboard?

I know theres power to the motherboard as theres a few LEDs that have come on as well as an F now displaying on the motherboards LED display. Cant find anything in the manual as to what this F means.

I always think of F as Fail.
Des it run through any other codes before that?

What is the new PSU?
You do have the ATXPWR & ATX12V1 connected?

It is possible that the failing PSU took something else with it.

It goes through 1,2 and then moves to F.

Its strange as nothing powers up at all, no fans or anything. Im not sure if thats the sign of a dead motherboard or not.

All power is connected as far as i can see. Ive double checked a few things just to be on the safe side.

The new psu is just some generic rubbish piece really that i borrowed off a friend. But its powerful enough to run what i have so im a bit confused.

Thats whats im thinking... i think its killed something else but wanted to be entirely sure before i go and upgrade my machine.

EDIT: Now showing 9F which isnt in the manual but is listed as a power problem. Surely the fans or something would power on though?
