Hello

I've ordered the above mobo and noticed that my case front panel audio connectors dont match up with the HD Audio or AC'97 pin assignments on the front panel audio header on the board. Basically the AC'97 and case connectors share: mic in, mic power, mic ground but the case connectors have an extra ear ground and two ear left/right channel connectors to the boards one. Anyone know anything about this stuff? I could disable onboard sound and install an old PCI soundcard with it's own front panel.

Cheers

What's the case? The AB9/Pro header is a standard 10-1 header that does both AC97 and HDA. Depending on what drivers/BIOS settings you choose it should work with either an AC97 or HD Audio front panel connector. If you have both types of front panel connector then use the HD Audio one, if you only have one type of front panel connector then set it to AC97.

Many good cases now have both types of header available.

Case Specs

It's a Jeantech JN099 Light FUSION, i bought it a while back for an upgrade that didn't happen. The available documentation is pretty poor.

The front panel audio wires are labelled
MIC In
Mic Power
Ear Gnd
Mic Gnd
then two split cables
Ear L
Ear L
Ear R
Ear R

I guess this is an obsolete format.

Cheers
