Abit AB9 problem controlling the cpu fan!

Tried everything to get the cpu fan to spin at lower speeds,but nothing i do reduces the fan speed!

It's all very simple too,just enable the control in FanEQ control!,but i do this and the fan keeps spining at full speed.Do i have afualty motherboard?

I have also downloaded speedfan,but it doesn't even see my cpu fan!

But as i say the bios should control it no problem,even the abit software doesn't make a difference!

Anybody got this board and can control the cpu fan?

btw i have ninja heatsink and the cpu temp is only 25c

ah sounds like same thing i have m8 you must be using a 4 pin fan header to get the Faneq cpu control to work other wise stays on full pelt took me a while to work it out too but i dont mind the fan (120mm) being on full at 1200rpm as its quiet anyway

cheers,yep strange how some motherboards can control the fan even tho they too have 4 pin headers.Is there a list of motherboard which can control a 3 pin cpu fan?

I'm afraid 1200rpm is far to noisey for me

.I like my cpu fan to spin at 600-700.I have connected the fan to the motherboard 3 pin header and can get the fan spinning at 1000rpm.Also connected a sharkroon to the 3 pin header and got that spinning at 700rpm.So makes it a lot better

Oh and 1200rpm seems loud to me because i have just bought a fanless psu!

disable the low fan rpm warning/shutoff on the CPUFan header & move the 3-pin fan plug to another header & control it on that - sorted.

I bought a vantec 20dba 120mm fan so isnt so noisey as the supplied fan for me but everyone has there own little things that annoy them.
As for a list of mobos that control the fan on 3 pins i dunno if such a list exists tbh

I did but it only seems to control via the voltage and the min you get is 8v.Which reduces the 1200rpm fan to 1000rpm

I'm not sure about the original AB9 series but the QuadGT & the IP35 Pro will let you set 6V using the Windows uGuru GUI.

Yep it's 8v in windows and in the bios for the ab9

I would play around with the settings because I can get my 1200rpm CPU fan down to about 600rpm on idle.
