Behind you... Naked!
I just got my new setup.

I am havign serious issues with it and its really annoying me and I have not even managed to get it to install Windows yet?

The BIOS numeric display shows CC.

It says that if it shows CC then either the jumper or the switch is set wrong, but they are set right. If I set them to anythign else, the PC wont boot at all.

Every time it does start up, I get the CMOS chexum error all the time, so does it need a BIOS flash?
Why? it is supposed to support Quad Core out of the box isnt it?

Do I have a duff Mobo?

I am utterly sick of this thing.

Also, there are blue lights flashing at the back of the board... Is that supposed to happen? - does the blue lights indicate a problem or is it a fashion thing? - the case is an Antec Nine hundred and that has blue lights, so is it part of the case??? - No, it certainyl looks like the Board.

Am I going to have to strip it down cos this thign is the most useless tight pile of junk I have ever wasted 2 grand on.

Please help

In reverse order:
the flashing blue LEDs is a feature of the mobo - it has something like 6 patterns plus off & constant on.

Do you know what BIOS version is on the mobo atm?
The CC makes me think that it may well have a damaged rear clearCMOS switch.

Or simply that the rear switch is in the Clear CMOS position. Have you tried moving it? I think there is also a conventional jumper on the board - you might want to check that's not shorted.

Blue lights are supposed to be there. Try pattern 3 - that's where they chase each other around the board then sort of "explode" - very 14-year-old boy.

Yes, I know about the CMOS Jumper and the Switch.

Im now aware of the LEDS too, but, since I cannot save the CMOS, I cannot test for anymore of these things like the LEDs.

Yes, the BIOS is v10

This is only going by the bottom line info when it tells me *** CMOS chexum has failed press F1 bit.

Damamged CCMOS Switch? - Yes, could very well be.

Setting the Jumper to clear, will not let me start up the PC, and flicking the switch does nothing... Seems that the switch could very well be a solid candidate.

I have now also tried an E6300 and a P4 3.6Ghz Prescott 660 in there, so its not the Quad core thats holding it back.

I have also tried Geil 6400, Corsair 6400 ( The Site recommends Corsair so thats the stuff I got for it ) and Samsung too, so its not the RAM.

Must be jumper.

Thanks guys.

Just as an after thought, I have now upped the BIOS to 1.6 ( You never know do you )

Its now v1.6 or v16 ( whatever? - its the latest BIOS ) and its showing the exact same problems.

I have also upped the battery but I think Buff, you are correct, the Switch must be the problem.

Im not entirely sure that if the switch is THAT finicky, that I actualyl want to bother getting it RMA'd... Id rather go with another board entirely actually, cos the replacement will onyl have the same crappy switch so will only be a matter of time before that ones goes too?

The switch isn't finicky but I suspect that yours may have received some physical damage.
Having said that I'm surprised that you managed to update the BIOS if it was shorting.

Can you still not get into the BIOS properly?
