I got hold of an Abit AN8 32X mobo for just over £10 on popular auction site
when i transfer all my components over and power up the board it stalls before loading the bios,
the only clue i have at present is the bios post code showing 0.6 when it stall's
looking at manual i cant seem to find the relitive error for this code
My thinking is that the bios is corrupted in someway and i require a new bios chip which ive found online for approx £10

Is it worth spending an extra £10 on this board to find out or should i cut my losse's now and just horse it

Maybe this is a silly question but have you reset/cleared the CMOS and tried booting with a single/different memory stick?

I'm pretty sure that what you are seeing is actually 9.0.

That usually means either a BIOS (corrupted, unsupported CPU etc.) or a power (failing/insufficient pSU, short etc.) problem .

if this is the case then im evan more conviced it is a corrupted bios as according to the manual for the board code 9.0. means uguru has completed and passed the rest of booting to the bios
and as that's where it stalls it would suggest the bios is cooked

it's socketed so you can get a replacement or if you have another mobo that uses the same BIOS chip you can hotflash.
what chip does the Foxconn in your sig use?

I do have a spare bios chip i got for an old abit AN7 uGuru board
However wont i have issue's with the MAC Address's currently assignied to the Lan and Firewire ports on the board.
