Abit aw9d max which memory slots to use

I have the Abit aw9d max mobo and two matched 512meg DDR2 memory modules. I'm not sure if I should fit both modules into the same channel slots on the mobo, or should I fit one module into each channel ?. The mobo's manual is not very clear on this point.

I have two 1GB sticks, both in each blue slot.

they have to go in slots of the same color. have mine in the 2 nearest cpu
