abit ax78 not booting up

I got new pci-e HD3870 graphic card and tha bit ax78 mobo as well.

Basically i have akasa powermax 1000w power supply.

The graphic car does not seem to boot up as the fan is not spinnnign on it.

i have hooked up the 20 pin in the place where the 24/20pin should be. I also plugged the 4 pin into where the 8 pin should be as well as i don't have an 8 pin.

Now it starts everything lights etc but just a black screen.

any ideas.

You should have an 8pin & 24 pin ATX connector with that power supply, I'm surprised you don't.

Have you conneced the power connectors to the graphics card! also try a CMOS reset.

Is the power supply in link below simular to yours.

thats the one. those connectors they have now are new as they are detachable from the supply. yes the cable is hooked uo to the g-card. I also noticed the hdd and dvd drive do not power up at all yet the case fan and cpu fan do. I hooked up a 350w psu from my other psu wich has a 4 pin and a 20 pin plus I hooked up the graphics card as well and same symtoms no hdd power up or dvd as well??!! could it be the mobo doing that.
