Abit BD7 p4 2.0Ghz not booting. Help needed?

I have a p4 2Ghz Socket 478 that was running on an Abit BD7 motherboard.

Its stopped working. What happens now is that when powered on, the fans on the CPU cooler etc spin, the motherboard LCD readout illuminates and says "00". The hard disk doesnt spin up and the PC does nothing. No error beeps, no BIOS comes on screen, nothing other than the "00" on the BD7 readout.

Any ideas? I was wondering if the CPU had died? Would this prevent even the BIOS screen coming up on the monitor?

Ive tried resetting the BIOS with the jumper on the motherboard to no avail.

Monitor is fine by the way, just nothing from the PC.

But cant see an error 00 code... i found a site which says that 00 means that your motherboard is not even initialising, try clearing your CMOS and see if that has any effect... if not im thinking a borked mobo, try another PSU just in case too! Soz i cant help anymore

Yeah, even the Abit manual doesnt quote a "00" code for the BD7. Strange. Tried the CMOS clearing but still the same.

Its a question of getting new components to test which has failed. Should I try to purchase another BD7 mobo first or another socket 478 p4?

Well if it was me i would try the motherboard, as this is more likely to have suffered a problem, processors rarely fail from what i've seen although it does happen.

I'm not sure of the pricing of that sockets components, so perhaps if the CPU is significantly cheaper try that first, but like i said personally i'd try a new mobo

EDIT: was you rig overclocked?

Hi mate, nope the rig wasnt overclocked. Ive just bought a 1.8ghz p4 and tried it but looks like you are right and it is the motherboard coz it still doesnt work. Aggggh!!! Where on earth am i gonna get a BD7 motherboard?!?!? None on Ebay. Anyone have one cheap???
