HI All

I have a Abit Fatal1ty AN8 socket 939 motherboard

and I was wondering if I could drop one of the new ATI 4850 graphics boards in this board

because i know the new cards are PCI 2.0 but I am not sure what my boards pci slot is??
anybody know ??

many thanks

Michael

I think they are backwards compatible, just you wont get full performance of what you did with the PCI 2.0 port. No doubt it will be a PCI 1.1 or something you got on yours, what graphics card and cpu you got atm btw?

PCI-E 2.0 cards are meant to be backward compatible & afaik there isn't 1 yet that needs more than the bandwidth available on x16 PCI-E 1.x

thanks for the answers guys :)

@Vigoro , yeah i know about CPU i was gonna build whole new system (Q6600 etc)
but got tempted by a 24" LCD LOL , now all me pennies are gone :(

would it be worth moving the cpu up a bit ??
