Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 Mobo PCI-E16 or not??

I'm building a machine with parts from the overclockers shop and I just noticed on the description of the mobo I'm after:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-124-AB

It states NVIDIA SLI Technology (2x8)

Now the graphics card I was after is this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-043-BG

and the description states Note: These cards require PCI-E x16 slots, they will not function in a x8 slot so for SLi you need dual x16 mainboard

Now I've searched around and even went to the Abit homepage and I can only find a reference to a Fatal1ty FP-IN9 board that DOES have duel 16 PCI-E slots. So is the information on the website wrong? or are these two pieces not compatible?

Any advice would be appreciated, ta.

dont get that motherboard, get a gigabyte ds3 and a 8800gtx, the gtx will last you longer than 2 8800gts.

Don't get a Gigabyte, crap boards imo. Always have made poor boards, made out of cheap components with iffy bioses.

That's just my opinion through owning around 6 over the past 5 years, including a DS4 & DS3-P.

I had 3 Gigabyte boards, all had problems despite always updating the BIOS to the latest verison and all 3 died (longest lasted a couple of years), 1 rather spectacularly went up in smoke!

I have the ABIT FP-IN9 board mate...since the last couple of bios releases this board has been great. It will run 2 gts's in sli so dont worry. And as for a GTX ?? ive seen some benchmarks where the 2 320MB GTS's are much quicker. But that depends on resolution as the gtx pull's away over 1600x1200. But under the 2 gts's will be quicker in most games anyway.

Personally id go for the Asus 650i board, ive tried the abit one and i just didnt think it overclocked at all well, i had problems getting to 2.1ghz with a 6300 that i knew did 3.17ghz in a DS4

my e6600 is happily sitting at 3.6Ghz no problems. Like i said its a good board since the last couple of bios updates. :D

So the Abit board will definitly run the GTS graphics card, despite it saying on the overclockers store that its only PCI-E 8?

Do the BIOS revisions update this so that it can support PCI-E 16 cards?

I know my board supports SLI and seen benchmarks of SLI on my board so yeah it works.

i think what that (2x8) means is that it if you decide to get another 8800gts the pci slots will run at 8x and if youve only got one card it'll run at 16x

i may be wrong though

You are correct.

I had the Abit though and it was bloody awful. I had it for about 5 days before i returned it under the DSR's. It was buggy as hell. I really hope they have sorted the bios out by now.

As for Gigabytes being rubbish, what a load of crap. The DS3/DS3P/DS4 are three of the best 775 motherboards available. Fast, stable and have excellent bios's.

that is correct mate.

it doesnt affect the performance on the GTS's tho.

yeah they have sorted out the biose's now mate as ive had mine from new and the 1st 2 bioses were garbage, im using the latest one now and its ace. :D
