Hi All
Has anyone had problems with SATA drive on this board before??

When I got the board I configured 2x 160Gb Sata drives as a mirrored pair.
I later decided that i didnt want this config and swapped back to raid disabled in the bios as I was having issues installing 64bit XP.
XP installed fine without the mirror running and both disks are seen with no probs.

I have now decided to go back to mirroring but Raid controller cant see the drives.
If I look in the Bios the drives are clearly present.
I then enable the raid mode and enable the sata drives for the raid.
The system reboots and instead of seeing an F10 prompt/Option the system just hangs saying its discovering the raid.
At this point it just sits there????
Am I supposed to leave it like this or what?
I have left it in this state for 15mins with no effect?
I donot get an F10 option.
I have upgraded the bios level to 2.0 to see if this helps but it makes no difference.

Anyone else had Sata Raid problems with this board??

I have now sorted this problem.
After speaking with Abit I did a few things to it.

Disconnect all power from the board including all cables and CMOS battery.

Short out the CMOS reset in usual way.

Plug everything back into board.

Boot into Bios and set the board to optimal settings.

Enable raid for the SATA drives

Exit Bios and shutdown.

Remove 1 of the drive cables and boot up.

You should now see an F10 Prompt warning of a bad raid config
Enter raid setup and delete the raid.
Reboot

You should now be back at square 1 as if the board was new.

It would seem that my board kept some settings in the raid area instead of wiping them.
Only a 100% power disconnect erased them.

:p
