Hey im looking for some advice... i recieved my new system today and it came with a utility cd called abit guru? ive never used this before and i was wondering if others are using this to control there fans in there case? the main fan at the back of the case is running all the time but i dont know what i have to do with the utility to make the 2 front fans and the top mounted fan run, do they just come on when it reaches a certain temp in the case or is there a way to force start them? sorry if this is a stupid question only i havent had extra fans in a case before. this is my system

thanks for any advice....

It depends on your OS, but you can set this stuff in BIOS. Simply hit del at boot to enter BIOS and enter the Uguru settings, here you can specify fan speeds and set-up there tolerence levels etc. Alternatively, the Uguru utility can do a similar thing if you are running it with your OS. I havent used Uguru control panel as I am on Vista but use the BIOS settings, although I am not sure how many fans you are running of the Mobo, I would personally recomend just the CPU and one other, run the other fans from the PSU directly. You can get speedfan to monitor speed if you dont have Uguru clock, although the clock does allow overclocking on the fly, which is nice.

Thanks m8, im running vista home 32bit system, it came with the build, the case has 2 front fans and a rear one also a large fan on top of the case, al try what you suggest :) thanks again....

I would say the top fan is the PSU fan and is controlled by the psu. The front fans may not even be connected. There is two Aux fan outs on the board, but I would use a molex connector as it does drain power away from the board. I run cpu and 1 aux fan off the board and my thrid fan is via molex, with a passthrough to the mobo for speed sensing. The fans I am using are tarty ones though! They switch between serveral LED colours, as I have a modded case, with a window, this is a must! Make sure your PSU is upto the job of running the fans, check it ratings I went for a Colours IT 550w which is more than ample.
