Hi Guys,

My PC does not boot correctly. When i turn on the machine i get the dual-boot (which is normal for this mobo (IP-35)) and then 1 long beep for 5 seconds and a two second pause and repeat. Over and over. I have tried to look up the beep codes for this but i am not certain at all which it is. I get no POST at all. Nothing on the monitor. I have tried two monitors, two graphics cards and i have replaced my cpu fan and reseated the CPU. None of that works. When i remove the RAM the beeping stops but i still get nothing on the monitor. I am currently at a loss for what it may be. I have yet to try different ram but im confused at why it would be both sticks (2x1g) causing the fault.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As above I recall that being a memory issue - either not inserted correctly, one (or more) stick gone bad, or faulty board.

Again as above, try reducing to one stick. If that still doesn't work, try a different stick in the same slot. If that still doesn't work move the stick and try it in each slot. Usual process of elimination I'm afraid.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Yes i tried it with 1 stick in each slot. And i have tried resetting the BIOS. None of it worked. Is it likely for both sticks of RAM to go at the same time?

since the bios/cmos was reseted, the issue could be with your RAM voltages, especially if you have non-generic ram (stuff with heat sinks on them). this type of RAM is usually rated to run at 2.0V, but most MBs supply 1.8V as default and the only way to change the voltages is in the BIOS

Looking at another website the particular beep code you said you get means the following:

DRAM isn't inserted correctly

If you've got the RAM inserted properly and tried each one on its own then could you possibly try a completly different stick of memory if you can so you can tell if the RAM you were using is at fault.

Well i bought a new stick of cheap low voltage ram and it worked. The PC booted up correctly. I went into the bios settings increased the voltage up to 2.2 and replaced the new stick of RAM with my 1g sticks and it worked fine. Not sure how it happened but i am glad its working properly again.

Thankyou for all the help guys!

José
