Hi To All, I am a novice so bear with me. I am trying to install OCZ Reaper X Edition 4-4-3 pc2 6400 but I cannot get it to work. I have the pc running now with 1gb Taiwan ram pc2 5300 so I can make changes in Bios etc. I am positive I have to make alterations to voltages etc but do not know where to begin, I also do not know any abbreviations to do with timings etc in Bios. Is there a very basic dummies guide to installing ram and making changes to voltages etc maybe inc pictures.
I have another pc which I can use with a separate screen to cross reference if req.
I would be very grateful for any help.

Don't worry about adjusting the memory timings for now, simply leave them on 'By SPD' and the board will sort them out.

That memory you want to install needs to run at 2.1v, and the IP35 Pro overvolts by around 0.1 - 0.2v, so I would go into the BIOS setup and set the memory voltage (DDR2 Voltage) to 2.0v, but do this with the old memory still in there, then save the settings and install the OCZ memory. That should get you up and running.

Leave everything else as it is for now anyway.

Look at the manual from this page onwards to see what pages to enter in the setup... http://www.manualslib.com/manual/205153/Abit-Ip35-Pro.html?page=27#manual

Oh, almost forgot, welcome to the forums :)

And another thing, here's the official Abit IP35Pro thread on here, which includes how to overclock it along with a host of other things. Plenty of us on here still use it, so any questions, fire away...

EDIT - I completely forgot, make sure you are putting the new memory in the correct slots. They should be installed in the matching colour slots, ie. both in the blue slots, or both in the black, don't mix them up.

Hi Diggsy, Thanks a million for your help. I have tried setting voltage to 2.0 and saving then changing ram, but I am still getting C1 error.
I have checked the Reapers and they work fine in the pc that I am using now to reply.
I have tried all 4 slots, but same result.
The blxxxxx thing works fine with the other stick of ram.
I have read of problems with this board with reapers but it is sortable.
Doesnt help when your a bit thick.
Any other ideas.
Thanks,Rob.

Make sure you hold the board so that it doesn't warp when installing the OCZ memory, it's easy sometimes for the board to warp a little and the memory doesn't make proper contact.

Oh and can you try installing the new RAM and resetting the CMOS afterwards and see if that boots?

Ok, try again booting with the RAM that works, set to 2.1v DDR2, and raise the MCH voltage a little from default, even up to 1.4v will be fine. Save, remove that RAM and install the OCZ. DO NOT RESET THE CMOS this time and see if it boots.

Thanks Diggsy, I think Ive found the problem. I just updated some drivers and got an action req warning off microsoft relating to bios update req as ram is not working correctly.
I bought the m/b secondhand, maybe he was using xp. I have now got to update the bios.
Any help doing that would be great.
Cheers.

Funny, the next thing on my list would have been to check if it was running the latest bios :p

What bios revision is it running? It's the last 2 digits on the bottom of the inial boot up screen that identify it, version 16 etc (the screen with Award Phoenix... at the top).

As for installing the latest, check here to dowload it, included in a full pack of all available for the board... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums...BIT-IP-35-Pro-Review-Overclock-Guide-Thread** (this is an awesome thread btw)
