Abit IP-95 - Overclocking?

I recently put together a budget gaming system and this motherboard looked like the ideal little buy. According the OcUK customer reviews...

...these should overclock well. Sadly I can't seem to find any voltage options in *** BIOS. I've got an e4300 in there, and trying to POST at anything passed 2.00ghz just doesn't work. I can monitor the voltage in the BIOS and it says that the vcore in 1.28v. Anyone had any luck with these? Is there a BIOS flash or something?

Thanks.

basically, its pants.
i think i got 100mhz out of it which is hardly worth the effort, its sata1, the only thing that might be good about it is that it has ddr1 and ddr2 slots. then again that seems a bit silly.
best thing to do is not buy it, those reviews are talking about something completely different and if you already own it, sell it and spend an extra £20+ on something better.
sorry.

I was rather suspecting that those reviews might have been referring to something else. It doesn't matter what I do, I can't even get this e4300 to post at past 2.08ghz. there is no way someone got over 3ghz let alone an FSB of 470.

That's very bad form from OcUk. I think I may give them a call tomorrow and see what can be done. I do hope i'm not met by the arguement that just because it works at stcok, there is was no misrepresentation at the point of sale.

It's a shocking motherboard. Several users have reported those reviews as being inaccurate, but they're still up there, which is a shame.

And not wishing to appear 'smart' but don't you think if there was a £30 motherboard that clocked the living daylights out Core2Duo's we'd have loads of threads about tweaking it, rather than spending £80-£250 on boards that do actually overclock? Basically, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Sorry.

ASk them to part-ex the IP-95 for one of these instead. It's still not as good as a P35 ATX board, but it'll get you most of the way there.

it's perfectly good for what it was designed for & comparable with other P4M890s.
It was not however designed to be an overclocker's mobo but simply an everyday office workstation.

on the bright side, if you do not get an exchange/refund you would easily sell it on. i did and never lost a penny!

I'll probably just keep it for a spare in case another one goes for any reason. As the above poster says, there is nothing actually wrong with..... it's just a bog standard work station motherboard.
