hoping someone can help here, got a new Q9550 today for my abit ip pro board, according to abit's website the bios vers 17 update lets these run the these cpu
"Fixed 45nm CPU compatibility and support CPU half multiplier"

no joy was getting code error 8.7. so after some checking up, the most recomended was beta ver 18.
after flashed to vers 18, this will let me into the bios, but make any change in bios & wont save. after reboot goes back to 8.7 error :( . have ruled out psu mem & g cards, 8.7 all the time. reset cmos loads, pulled battery ect

i know a few ppl have this combo working, wanna pass on the tips.
been a right pain , been at it all day, if put my 6750 back in any of these test's, there not 1 problem :(

if i need new mobo, whats recomended, to run good with these chips right out of the box & is good for OC & crossfire £100 max.
hoping can get this sorted 1st thou.
Thanks :)

yup 8.7 comes back as voltage on manual.tryed ocz 600w & corsiar 750w, after more reading on this problem, seems it's just your luck, some mobo will work with these chips, most dont.
looks like gonna need new mobo or send cpu bak, got till tues, hope can fix this prob thou:(
