A plethora of problems for me on this new build!

Any who, my Abit IP35 board is detecting my CPU temp as 170c, which I'm fairly sure is wrong, as I can't feel an abnormal temp with my hand and the zalman fan I've got is running full tilt.

Any ideas what's going on here?

This is the temperature in the bios.

I've managed to have it running for an hour or so whilst installing OS and programs, went into the bios to just turn on the alarms for the temp and noticed how high it was!
uGuru doesn't want to show me any temperatures...

Okay, cheers. I've turned the beeps off for the mean time, doing my head it ;)

Will edit this post with the temps Core Temp gives me.

e: Here's what Core Temp is giving me:

Tj. Max 105
Core #0 41
Core #1 35

Those seem reasonable compared to the values I'm getting from the bios.

Ah, I'm running an E8400 in my IP35 too ;)

I did do a little reading last night and it seems the v.14 BIOS has a problem with the temperature.
I'll flash the BIOS later! If I do this, can I use a USB stick rather than a floppy? Believe it or not, I don't actually own any floppy disks or know anyone that has one!

Cheers guys :)

Excellent! Thanks very much.

e: Found my USB stick isn't recognised but managed to get hold of a floppy disk.

However, after creating a boot disk, there isn't enough room to copy over the BIOS files :/

Am I doing something wrong here?

As far as the floppy disks go, you'll need one disk to boot from and another with the bios files on. After you've booted, you can take the boot floppy out and stick the one with the bios on in and update from that.

*smacks forehead*

Thank you :D

Figured I'd bump this one rather than making a new thread.

I've updated the BIOS to the latest version, and I think the problem has just reversed, with uguru giving me temp readings that are too low.

The auto-adjusting of the CPU fan won't kick in when under load, as that uguru value doesn't seem to change under load. However I don't want to run the CPU fan at full tilt 24/7 because I like a quiet room :p
