Abit IP35 Pro mobo problem

I have the above board purchased from OC late last year.

Since owning it, I have had a problem with frequent error messages telling me that my ethernet cable is unplugged. This is very frequent. Sometimes rebooting returns the connection, sometimes it doesn't.

I once lost my internet connection for 3 days and it just came back without me doing anything.

I have ruled out the cable and the router as the internet is still there via wireless. I am up to date with drivers.

Is this a known problem with this mobo, or is perhaps my mobo faulty?

Any advice gratefully received. :D This is driving me up the wall.

Yes.
Yes.
And Yes!

I may have found the answer.

I did some googling earlier this evening and found some references to some mobos not being able to connect within the allotted timespan if set to 'auto negotiation', hence intermittent disconnections and the 'cable unplugged' message. It was suggested that if you manually set the speed to 100mbs rather than let it auto detect, it will cure the problem

I have done that and I won't be dancing down the street just yet, but so far, so good. There has not been one incident since doing that.

@ Diggsy.........

Any chance of you telling what settings you use to achieve 3.6Ghz with your setup?

I have same cpu and same board and at the moment, can only achieve 3.1Ghz without it becoming unstable.

9x 400, 1.52vcore bios (droops to 1.43v under load), VTT 1.23v, MCH 1.29v, DDR 2.0v. All others left at stock.

Bear in mind that I removed the heatpipe assembly and applied Ceramique for better heat transfer. I also have 2x 40mm fans on the Northbridge and a 60mm on the PWM's.

Thanks, I will have a go with these figures.

I have substantial cooling (air), so hopefully it will be ok, but I will be checking temps.

A very large roomy case with

Asus silent square evo cpu cooler.
Corsair Dual Channel Airflow fan on ram.
2 x 22 cm high speed fans on side of case.
1 x 12 cm fan on rear of case.

Loads of holes on upper areas of case for heat to escape.

I seem to hover 21 - 24 degrees centigrade for internal temp of case.

I shall be monitoring the temps.

Yeah, looks pretty good. Just remember to run Prime95 Small FFTs and check temps with CoreTemp. Try to keep the hottest core at or below 70c.
