I'm a bit stuck - my Abit IP35 Pro won't boot - it keeps giving error code C1 - Detect Memory. I've tried two types of RAM (Geil 2 x 2GB 800Mhz and a 512mb stick of Kingston 667Mhz.) in single and two stick configs, tried all the slots, individually and dual channel. I've removed all unnecessary devices and cleared the CMOS in between each boot but no luck. Anyone got any ideas?

(Spec: E8500, Gainward 8800GT, Seasonic M12 500w).

cpu pot that was overtensioned - que?

"C1 was an issue that hounted me a bit, but it was just the cpu pot that was overtensioned"
I found that quote on another forum - anyone know what cpu pot being overtensioned means? If anyone can tell me - I'll check it out.

Woah now I'm confused. It's booted in the BIOS. All I did to get it to work was to replace the graphics card with my old 7800 GT. It's booted using one stick of Geil RAM. So, it definately isn't a CPU issue. might still be a RAM issue. It might still be a board issue. Could well be a gfx card issue. I'll have to try the 8800GT in my old pci-e1.1 mobo - if that'll support it.

Problem solved! It was a dodgy pin on the molex to 6pin cable that Gainward supplied. I replaced the connector with one of the PSU 6pin connectors and it's now working ok. (So far!) Luckily it seems that no damage was done to the card. Phew!

So, if you're an Abit IP35 Pro owner getting C1 POST errors, it doesn't necessarily mean you have a RAM problem - despite what the manual says.

Most often C1 seems to be voltage/power to the RAM & the gfx card has RAM too (& yes, uGuru knows that e.g. code 0.4. covers memory initialisation but that covers the gfx card as well as the mobo so I suspect that it's possible that C1 also can cover the gfx card).
