Just built the computer

Finally installed windows after a couple of blue screen of deaths

ran Prime95 for an hour passed the test (about 5 total)
and a program OCCT it was stable (30 mins)

The problem is when I go to turn the computer on it wont work
Gets stuck at the abit logo screen
The only way to get into windowsXP is to clear the BIOS CMOS memory
then it works
but if I shutdown and power back on i get the same problem stalls at Abit logo (keyboard doesnt work)

any ideas?

BIOS is uptodate
Havent changed any settings in BIOS left to default
pretty much all drives installed windows, gpu

They are noticably bad at holding voltage without drooping, knock your RAM and CPU core voltages up a tad.

EDIT: Infact, your RAM is 1.9v-2.3v rated, the board will boot at just under 1.77v (1.8v set), mine won't boot with my RAM in from a BIOS reset, I have to use a cheapo stick to get to the BIOS to change to 2.3-2.4v.

Make sure you have manually set the RAM voltage to around 2.0v, detecting by AUTO rarely ever works for RAM IMO.

ok thanks will try that, soo what all settings should I change up?
Just CPU core voltage + DDR2 Voltage
Ive never done any overclocks so a bit scared incase i fry something

Did anyone else have problems like this when they used this board and fixed it by voltage change?

hey Chi, i can't help but could you tell me if this happens with your pc, because i have a very similar setup. It happens exactly like this.

1. I power up.
2. I think its the graphic card, spins very fast for say 5 seconds.
3. I think its turns off for like 3 seconds
4. Step 2 and 3 are repeated one more time.
5. Starts to boot up.

Is this normal? this is the first pc i;ve build in like 4 years time, so don't know if this is normal

i power up
something spins quickly for a few seconds not sure what component
then just goes to a normally consist speed
(no repeated speed ups)

But then it crashes at the abit splash logo (press tab to post, del to setup)
need to anyways do a clear CMOS to get back into windows.

Only just built the machine...
Did you change any of the BIOS settings

yep after the speed up ... which i am assuming is the gfx card, it just stops for a while ... then speed up again ... then things go to normal then i see the abit screen.

No i didn't change anything, thats how my first boot happened, its been happening like that ever since. Can someone else also please confirm is this is not right.

What temps are PC health status reporting

You need 2.1v default for that Geil memory (Abit board defaults to 1.8v). Change that in the bios and reboot. You may have to drop back to 1 stick of ram, reset in bios, boot into windows. Then shut down and fit the rest of your ram. (I had this problem and it was down to low voltage on my memory).

Have you even tried what was in the first post???????. It doesn't seem like it at all. I have the same board but lucky for me my ram will boot into BIOS until I change my voltage.

If someone is going to waste their time trying to help you then the least you can do is listen :(.

My PC does exactly the same, and it annoys the hell out of me, although nothing seems to be wrong once in desktop. SOMEBODY please confirm this is supposed to happen?

My board is just the IP35, not the Pro. Thanks

It works (so far), i have the same problem just plugged 1 on its own then 2 of em, works fine. But when i put 4 in, i get the blue screen and it reboots. I guess one of the ram sticks is messed up.

Jep tested using 3 all works, the last one is whats causing it. Will I be able to get it replaced?

p.s cheers for the help guys ;D

Ok, you have 2 issues by the look of it.

Issue one - When it turns it's self off and on again is called the "double boot" over at the aBit forums. The most recent BIOS is meant to solve it. It doesn't do you any harm, it's just annoying. This occurs on all 3 Abit IP35 boards.

Issue two - Sounds like Ram voltages to me. The default timings are too tight for the default voltages it gives some ram. You need to increase the voltages within the bios. If your PC can't get into the bios then get an old cheap stick of ram for a mate that is rated at low voltes to see if that works.

Hope that helps.
