abit ip35 pro wierd happening

ok i own a ip35 pro and i have not looked in the manual because i cant be bothered to find it, but something strange happened to me the other day and im wondering if you guys know how to make it happen again.

i came home from work for lunch and went to the bedroom picked up a haynes manual and opened it to read. it was resting on the keyboard. the pc was off. anyway was reading away with my desk fan on and i hear the vista startup sound, i looked at my pc and it was ON!!.

so it must have been my haynes manual resting on certain keys/key to start my pc up. so can the ip35 pro be started up via the keyboard?? this would be very usefull for me if you can tell me what keys i should use. i have a z-board merc stealth board and no uguru display thing.

cheers

yes keyboards can switch the pc on via the bios, but you must have put the pc to sleep-mode, pressing a key the computer turns on to resume operation where you last left off.

no i did not put the pc into sleep mode, i always shut down every night, and i have and use the vista gadget that has the restart/shutdown/lock buttons on it.(so no chance of using the sleep button that looks like a shutdown button in the start menu)my pc also has lights and uv tubes in it, something i would have noticed the night before, before going to bed, not to mention the sound.

the pc was deffos off.

that sounds like hibernation to me.

im trying to find out how i turned the pc on from it being completely of via the keybo

I'm assuming it was still on at the power plug? If so then you probably initiated a keyboard resume event (yes, I made that up). I'm not sure what it would be listed as but it would be in the same menu as the boot from LAN option. If so then any key would work.

There is an option in the Bios that allows you to turn the PC on via the keyboard, in the power options, have you checked to see if it is enabled?
