Hey everyone.

Does anyone own a Abit IX38 QuadGT motherboard? I have been having problems with it when it comes to putting it into sleep mode. Sometimes it refuses to enter sleep mode, it will act as if it about to sleep, so monitor will turn off, fans will begins to slow down, but then it doesnt and everything speeds up again and returns me to vista login page.

Another issue is when it finally does go into sleep mode, when you try to wake it up, 50% of the time the keyboard remains inactive and although the fans and everything turn back on, nothing is displayed so i have to reset the whole pc.

Im thinking it may be in need of a BIOS update, im reluctant to do that because i spent ages overclocking and fully testing my system and I read on the abit webpage that cmos will clear if i flash the BIOS. Will my profiles be lost if i do flash?

I think I had this when I had an IX38 QuadGT. To be honest, I've just completely given up sleeping or hibernating as it has been broken for me across multiple motherboards and multiple installs of Vista or Windows 7.

Flashing your QuadGT will clear the CMOS, but the profiles will not be deleted, so you can save all your settings and reapply after the flash...although bear in mind that a new BIOS may cause your hardware to perform differently and you should probably retest your overclock.

Well I flashed the BIOS (love how the flash guru makes it so damn easy, shame ABIT went bust they did make quality products) to version 14 which has had no effect on sleep mode issues-even though the BIOS description said it has addressed the sleep function. It has also managed to alter the EIST AND C1E function so i cant have them on when running my overclocked profile.

I dropped my speed back to defaults and what do you know.....the sleep fucntion works perfectly fine!!!.....any ideas why that might be? God I hope its not an indication of an unstable overclock, shame to think all that bloody prime 95 testing went to waste.

You did and it still doesn't sleep or hibernate :)

But as you say i've never had much luck with those functions on any systems really
