ABIT KN8 ULTRA NB Fan

Hi,

Can anyone advise on a suitable replacement for the ABIT KN8 ULTRA Northbridge fan, either another fan or passive heatsink type jobbie. Mines about to go paws up - its making a hell of a row.

Zalman passive (remember to disable the nb low fan rpm warning/shutdown)

How long have you had your board? I've had mine nearly 18 months and my NB fan has started to make some worrying noises. I'm not impressed, I will be avoiding ABits in future builds...

All moving parts will fail eventually. Thats why all new abit models come with heatpipes. If want a new fan please send a request to [email protected]

I'm not expecting imortallity, but at 18 months its hardly out of nappies! If ABIT are using components with that kind of lifespan then I'm not sure I'd trust another one of their products.

The life span differs from user to user. Normally just cleaning the fan brings it back to life. As I said before if you need a new one email me with your detials.

better not ask around about the Asus A8N nb fan then either as it'll put you off Asus too ...

Appologies for the over-reaction, I'm having a bad day. I'll give it a poke when I have a free moment and see how it goes after that.

You've certainly got a tick in the customer services column I'll give you that. An offer of a replacement and I havent even had to ring an expensive telephone line!

TBH I am not 100% sure but I think its about 11 months. I think I could get it replaced under warranty but I don’t want to put a new fan in for the same to happen again - would rather go with a heat sink and have done...
Anything for an easy life me :rolleyes:
