Abit KN9 SLI Freezing (not PCI-E voltage problem)

Hi

I've got a brand new abit KN9 SLI, 2 gig pair of Geil PC6400 Low Latency, an X2 4200, and an OCUK 7900GS. Nothing is overclocked.

I've got the system installed with XP SP2 (slipstreamed), using the drivers off the CD, and the latest 90 series forceware drivers from Nvidia.

The system is constantly freezing on the desktop, yet it can run a full cycle of tests on 3dmark2006.
When it freezes, at first the mouse continues to move and then after a minute or so a mouse click will generate a system beep (internal speaker) and then the mouse also freezes.

Nothing is overheating, and I have an enermax 435watt PSU which is blowing cold air out of the back while system is under full load (so I dont believe that is underpowered).

I left 3dmark2006 running in loop overnight and it had froze by morning.

I have upped the RAM voltage to 2.1V as specified on the GEIL ram packaging, and memtest shows no errors.

I have read about USB errors and issues with PCI-E voltage slowly increasing until it crashes, and then being fine afterwards - but I am not experiencing any of these symptoms.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I build & overclock systems frequently and rarely get any problems I can't sort out, yet every time I build a PC for my dad it has problems.

Thanks
Rtrdo
