Was trying to build a file server using socket A components as i had a motherboard lying around.

Components i bought:

Sempron CPU
TNT 32mb AGP
128mb pc2100, 1gb pc3200, 512mb pc2100
450W PSU
Akasa heatsink and fan for cpu

After putting everything together, only one set of the ram, the motherboard decided to go on fire :|
So i bought a new motherboard, the Abit Kv7.
I put all the components in this and press the power button.

The cpu fan starts spinning, the nb fan starts spinning but there are no beeps or any onscreen display seen.

Thought it could be anything, so i changed the ram, the ide cables, graphics card, monitor, vga cable, power supply, cpu, and still nothing

When the power button is pressed, the fans start and the lights on keyboard flash on like normal, but that is it.
Also if i connect a working dvd drive via IDE it doesnt turn on, there is no green light on it, but when i disconnet the IDE cable from either end, and leave the molex in, it turns itself on?!

I bought the Abit board from the MM on here, was just wondering if anyone knew of any problems with this board and the components i am using, or anyway to get it to work, as the guy i bought it off said it was taken from a working machine and posted to me, so i have no idea why its not working!

The only component i cant change is the motherboard at the moment, so i cant test if its that, just wanted to know before i went and bought another motherboard.
