Hi the board has 3 ram dimms, from which ram dimm do i start? i've only got one 512mb pc3200 ram at the moment - do i start at the one nearest to the cpu or the on nearest to where the hard drive and the like will be?

Closest to the CPU is DIMM1, and also channel 1.(manual clearly shows that)

DIMMs 2 and 3 are channel 2.

Use closest to CPU (DIMM1) and if you want more than one stick on ram, in theory it's better if you use 512 (dimm1) and 2 X 256s in Dimms 2 and 3 to have all the memory in 128 bit (not that you'll see much difference).

EDIT: See below.

"NOTE: We suggest you install DDR SDRAM modules from DIMM3 to DIMM1 sockets in order"

From the manual

Your right.
I've never seen that before.
This is quote from a review..

That is, specifically for NF7-S we fit a module into the DIMM 3, another one into either DIMM 1 or DIMM 2

Means my above post is backwards ;) (or how ASUS do it)

I just spent all morning trying to work out why my Athlon 3200XP and a 5900 Ultra was underperforming only to realise the memory config on this board is a bit back to front and I have been in single channel mode the whole time! Thank you OCUK…
