So I'd been thinking about how loud my computer was running, and I realised on my motherboard tools I have something called 'OC Guru' which has automatic options for OC (I don't care about all that, more just how loud it's running!). It boots on 'Default', but when you choose 'Normal', it's WAY quieter (even 'Turbo' is much quieter!), but the problem is if I run it on normal, then reboot, it's back on default, which is obviously not a good setting, there seems no options to be able to apply normals settings to default, so if anyone knows the best way to go about this then I'm sorted. Cheers.

The different profiles in OC Guru (default, quiet, turbo etc) have differing voltage settings that, amongst other things, alter the voltage on your CPU fan, Northbridge fan and system fans. It's most likely your CPU fan that is generating the majority of the noise, so what you can do is to go into OC Guru, click 'Softmenu' and then select 'CPUFanEQ' at the top. Tick 'FanEQ Enable' and then select your voltages and at what temperatures you want them to kick in.

Thanks for going into such detail but I'd prefer not to mess about with that stuff, I'd end up doing some damage. Just since 'default' seems a 'bad' setting, I'd be happy with leaving it on 'normal' all the time. The problem is that it resets to 'default' on restart. If there's a way of setting it to be permanently on 'normal' that's all I'm looking for.

Just mirror the "normal" settings that you want under "user1" it will hold user1 at reboot as long as the settings don't cause a system crash. It's not realy a big deal to click normal when u switch the PC on though :p

Yeah I know, I've got it opening at boot to set it to normal now, but just wondered if there was a way of setting and forgetting was all. Cheers for the help though.
