Big fan of the paralympics but watching a lot of the sports I'm sat there thinking I would love to play that and actually there are a lot of sports whereby the way they're played would/could/do neutralise the advantages offered by being fully abled. Now I personally love the thought of being able to play alongside someone no matter their physical disabilities, however I'm sat there also thinking that these people have no choice and would it therefore be seen as almost taking something from them?
What are your thoughts peeps?

I’d have thought that you’d actually be at a disadvantage, at least in the wheel chair sports, give those with actual disabilities would have far superior upper arm strength and coordination from the years of being in one.

there’s a good documentary called The Ringer that looks into it in detail ;)

I have a disability but at the time didn't use a wheelchair regularly.

But then due to a lack of eligable players at my school I got drafted in to a wheelchair basketball tournament.

Let's just say, throwing the ball towards the basket from a sitting position requires a lot of upper body strength.

I quickly went out of breath between attempts and racing up and down the court. We got beat in every match.
