Downloading rather rapidly through Steam now.

Been seeing a lot about this game recently but never did play it. Looking forward to this.

Another similar game I've not played is System Shock 2 so I might go for that after completing this but don't know if it can be purchased online.

Fantastic game, loved every second of it. I was suprised when then end came so sudden wasn't expecting it but never the less it's one of the greats.

Hmm, didn't realise this was on steam. I'm one of the few who have never played it either :D

Someone give me a short summary about the game? What do you do? Has it stood the test of time well?
How about invisible war?

I want to play it again but I'm concerned that, 5 years since I last played it that it wont live up to my 'memories' and I'll find it distinctly average :(

Your a human that can have implants fitted, you work for a government agency, the game can be played stealthily, action or a mixture. gfx may be rather old looking now but i think that there are some updated gfx mods out there for it.

invisible sucks compared to the first.

Anything else would spoil the game for you :D

Playing though without killing anybody, never managed it myself (not including those that I think have to be killed).

Right. Been through the training and made an attempt at starting the game proper.

Technically a couple of points to mention. Doesn't look that bad at all on high settings. More noticable is the rewind in physics, the way objects move about etc.

Already I like the style of the cutscenes. Hard to explain but it's a bit like being in some 80's sci-fi flick. The bad guys could be straight out of Total Recall and my character looks like the guy from Trancers or something. Has a distinct feel of Syndicate about it with the cybernetics and the air of control. Arriving on the dock and sneaking up to the Statue of Liberty I also feel like I'm in Escape from New York.

Anyway, after sneaking about and being very very clever for all of ten minutes, I got pasted when I picked up a TNT crate and then slammed it back on the deck for no good reason. Such a shame I was doing good!

Next time I'll get into the statue and find out what's going on. In one piece.

Is Deus Ex Invisible War any good?

No, It's terrible. Completely ruined it, Dumbed it down so much for consoles.

I think it would have done a lot better if they just called it Invisible War and left the Deus EX name alone.

Everything.

They took out everything that made Deus Ex so good in the first place, They story wasn't great and gamepaly was rubbish, Bit of a crappy port over from consoles. Characters were crap as well.

They just dumbed it down so much for console users and ruined it.

I suppose it's an alright game if you look at it as 'Invisible War' and not Deus Ex.

Essentially it is a FPS/RPG hybrid and as such is far less linear than most FPS (all games are linear to some extent of course, but you get a reasonable degree of freedom). You can use different playstyles (stealth, combat, tech etc) and develop your character to suit.

In terms of standing the test of time, I played it in 2004 which was 4 years after release and it was still very good. The interface is a bit 'clunky' like most games of that era, but the graphics didn't seem that bad on a 9800pro. They have a certain atmosphere to them and for example the Hong Kong level is one of the best designed in any game.

Invisible War is a very good game when judged on merit, not as good as Deus Ex but definitely worth playing.

Big fan of the original and I'll say IW is still good and in the same vain but is nowhere the sheer brilliance of the first, which was really original at the time. I suppose we had very high expectations and IW didn't quite do it. IW is prob a fiver or something now so worth playing still.

this and thief 3 will NOT run on my system... xp that is, really odd, deus ex has a problem and glitch, and just crashes, and thief 3 has this scroll problem with the mouse wheel.

2 of my fav games of all time, and they are the only ones that dont work :(

Deus Ex worked fine for me on XP.

Make sure you have the latest patch because out of the box, the D3D/OGL rendering support is pretty poor. Also may like to install an updated renderer from here: http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/

May be worth disabling SLI and assigning the process to a single core for this game, as a single GTX/3.6ghz core should be able to run it maxed out anyway.
