That depends on your circumstances and requirements.

Are you completely skint yet desperate to get into a 'flash mota' at any costs, have no money to buy a car with but can just about get the cash together for a 15% APR PCP deal over 60 months on a bottom of the range Audi? Go for a 1.2TSI.

Are you a recently retired FTSE100 index director after a cheap runabout for your wife whilst you are at the Golf Club? Go for a 1.8 TFSI S-Line.

If none of these apply to you, perhaps a little more context might help us give more tailored advice.
 
basically will be using it round london mostly - trying to decide whether to get either the audi or the mini - the fact the mini only has 4 seats puts me off a bit ...
 
Why an A1, have you driven one ?

I had a new one as a courtesy car, the exterior looked nice, the 1.4 petrol engine was nippy but the interior was extremely cheap even with a £16k price tag.

Are you buying a grotty heap of crap for £10k or speccing up a brand new one for £20k? We need an idea of budget etc.

Personally, I found the Mini to be a more 'fun' car. It looks more fun, its more fun to drive and the interior is more quirky. The A1 is more of a generic small car rather than a fun little runabout. As a result, we went with the Mini.
 
My wife is wanting to get one of these next year, could be worse I guess and will be nice enough for her :)

Had an A1 before I bought my F30 and have to say the last thought on my mind was the A1 had a cheap interior..... first time ive read such a comment in regards to the interior of the A1 :)
 
My wife wants an A1, I am not too keen. We went for a look today. Most Audis are sleek but the A1 is sort of dumpy and overly rounded and seems as if it needs to grow up a bit. I have an S3 and so like the A3 platform but she says that she does not want a "big" car!
The A1 seems expensive for what you get imho.
