Already got my case (CM Elite 334 NVIDIA)
Any final changes to make to save money or more powerful, before I click the checkout button :).

Maybe change the memory to http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-288-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 im sure it will do the same for a few quid cheaper

I would change the psu to http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-002-XF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat= (its made by corsair anyway and its more powerful and modular)

also i would change the hard drive to http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1279 its a very good drive as the reviews will tell you

Also with the savings from the memory and the hard drive i would get the gtx 470 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-135-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1810

How does OCuk branded graphics cards pair up against from well known brands though? I mean no disrespect to OCuk but I dont tend to go for brands ive never heard before :L.
The hard drive you suggest seems to be almost half the price, but the one I spec'd was 64mb cache and sata 6gb/s will I notice much difference dropping down to your one?

Also I read a review about failure rates on the XFX 650 which resulted in it going bang under heavy load, I never want to hear a PSU go bang lol :P

As for the ram yea it seems cheaper, but the timings are a lot higher.

Ive read bad reviews about pretty much every computer component ive ever looked at...

They are generally mass produced items, not every single item is going to be perfect and some will brake or be faulty in some way.

Of course there are SOME that just down right suck, but you gotta look at the bigger picture. how many bad reviews do you find vs how many good reviews?

I remember when Matrix came to cinema... critics slated it in the papers saying it was rubbish and a waste of time.

Only happened to be one of the most successful films... just not to the critics taste.

My advice... if your only seeing 1 or 2 bad reviews for something being faulty, chances are it was just one of those things, I would buy it anyways... if it brakes.... RMA the sucker. :-D

As for the memory, from my research ive found timings dont matter much these days... Frequency > timings imho... and you can always overlock the mem and bring the timings down :-)

1, The ocuk stuff is all well known makes its just whatever they buy in bulk or get a deals on, for eg i have ordered about 3 ocuk gfx cards in about 3 years and one was msi 8800gt, one was a pny gtx 260 and the 480 gtx i bought and have now is made by sparkle.

2, as for the hdd you wont notice any performance hit by not having 64mb of cache and as for 6gb/s the most a 7.2000rpm hdd will do is about 130mbps no where near the bandwidth of sata II (300mbps) and even further from sata III (600mbps)

3, the xfx range as far as i know is one of the best you may have just seen a few bad reviews and like i said they are made by corsair anyway which you were going to bye

4,unless your a mad overclocker the memory timings wont make a difference save the money and get the better gfx card

Really? I didnt know this!

I now look at XFX in a totally different light!... not that I had a problem with XFX... but I do love corsair! :-)

Seasonic are the OEM makers

Seasonic provide for Corsair
Seasonic provide for XFX
therefore XFX = Corsair.

Oh and btw Seasonic is extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely reputable.

yeah seasonic made the xfx psus 650,750,850 models
seasonic also make some of the corsair psu and antec tru power series iirc.

Id agree with what folks are saying here, nothing wrong with xfx and dont need to worry much about all the numbers on your ram unless your seriously into overclocking which tbh as far as ram goes wont make any difference to your system that your likely to notice. SATA 2 HDD is just fine as well, nice big saving for a gfx card which will make a difference you certainly WILL notice.

My bad i remember reading somewhere that xfx was made by a decent make just didn't check again before posting, but am i not right in what im saying, the xfx is a better bye
