So my gfx card is a HIS 6970 iceq mix.

I've recently had issue with it crashing more often in bc2 and i've been playing about with drivers as i thought it was the cause however i now can't even get the pc to boot up. As soon as the power comes on the fan speeds u really loud and nothing changes - no output on my monitor.

I've swamped back in an old 5870 i have and everything works fine. I've uninstalled and wiped my amd drivers such that i'm currently using the 5870 using the windows drivers but the 6970 doesn't work on this. I've cleared my cmos and again no impact.

Any thoughts of something else i can do?

If one card works and the other doesnt, then I think it may be RMA time. Can you install windows on a spare hard drive just to check?

Bin it, get a new one. Problem solved (probably)

Ive had a right headache lately with pc hardware going faulty, all I wanted was a working computer like before I upgraded, so couldnt be arsed with RMAing and just replaced the faulty part.

The faulty part (a motherboard) got a size 9 out the back door!

Have you never heard of a product warranty?

Yep, and never used it, especially not with pc parts. I dont want a 'repaired' or 'B-grade' replacement for a brand new part I bought that went faulty.

Probably a generation thing, Im a youngster and live in the age of a throw away society.

A sad indictment of young people.

You, or your parents, must have money to burn.

Been there Done that ! Best feeling EVER !

You mean install windows on separate drive using the 5870 and then switch in the 6970?

I wouldn't waste your time with this, if you are getting no display on boot up and can't even see the POST screen, the operating system is going to be irrelevant.

My recommendation would be to test the card in another PC if possible. Things like power connectors could be another one, the symptom you discribe (fans blazing away but no output) I've seen before when a card didn't have all the proper connectors (8pin/6pin) firmly in place.
