Hi. as teh title says i am going to install win8.

i currently have steam and origin hosting most of my games as well as guild wars 2.

With GW2 and steam. i have them on a seperate hdd and can simply run the steam and gw2 app after installing win 8 and it will auto update/setup both ready to play instead of having to redownload all my steam games and gw2 game.

Now my question is, can i do the same with Origin? if so, how?

I do not want to redownload all my games again

Both answers might be true. make a copy of the big files first as it may zero the lot and try to download. I have at times got it to just hash check and 'download' locally, I've not seen it do this unprompted like steam but might get lucky

Origin?

Likely not. I've done a fully folder structure copy to a new install before and it just died a huge death and shagged even attempting to install BF3 afterwards from fresh.

Spent HOURS sanitising the system of Origin to get it back on cleanly.

On Win7 I managed to get it to pickup the installers from some games by manually moving them into the relevant folders. It was kinda weird though, worked for some games but not all. Might be because some were a few years old (EA Downloader days).

I seem to remember with Mass Effect 2 I was able to play the actual game from the installer directory without needing to actually install it, the whole thing was quite bizarre to be honest.
