final questions:

i want the e6600 - if i swap to that, can i still get the same mobo?
(there seemed to be a new monitor cheap this week i was going to ask advice on, but my net doesnt seem to want to load it :S - will edit this later)

and is there anything you would change / anything thats particularly crap compared to the rest?

Thanks in advance

If you change to the 6600 then you can still get the same motherboard but you would probably get better results with one that uses the 975 chipset if you are overclocking.

Speaking of which I'd consider an aftermarket cooler if that is an aim, an Arctic Freezer 7 is a good choice.

Other than the PC6400 Ram if overclocking as Raikiri suggests it all looks fine to me :)

Well, though i'd certainly like to get in to overclocking, im a relative PC nub, so i don't want to have to think about coolers and whatnot, though there's some nice guides around here.

Could you suggest exact product names, cos im pretty clueless as to what you're advising :p

If you want to get the 6600 then this is the combination I'd suggest. If you decide this is too much money for you then I'd probably still suggest going for this Ram and maybe also the cooler as the chances are good with the 6400 and DS3 that you can overclock to 6600 sort of speeds or above.

do i still need the cooler? seeing as im not going to be doing anything to major to this rig (at least not right away :D ).

No you don't need the cooler but I was suggesting it as it will be quieter than stock and the delivery charges mean it is often uneconomical to buy one later but if you think you will be happy with stock cooling(and it is usually decent enough) then don't bother with it. :)
