Ideally i wanted a 4870 but with a new baby due in a couple months i dare not spend so much on graphics right now, so £108 for a 4850 seems ideal

im gunna try clocking it abit so will i need a 3rd party cooler or will the stock one be ok ?

will a antec 500w heo be enough to power it ?

I think the cheap gainward and a free copy of grid is the way forward m8 :D

Without knowing the reset of your system, the psu itself should be ok. Ati suggest a 450W psu and put a requirement of 26A@12V on the psu. Review sites are claiming a 110W peak load.

As to the cooler for clocking, tbh they could do with a better cooler for stock in this summer heat, but again this will depend on your case temps as its not a 2 blanking plate wide /w exhuast stock cooler.

I've just got the stock cooler and it idles at 70. Relatively warm case, though. Load temps are 85 ish and the fan is always on during 3d gaming. The fan noise itself isnt too bad imho, but my systems not particularly quiet to begin with.

so theres no exhaust on these gainwards ? all the heat gets spread around the case i guess, HHmmm im hovering around the buy button but undecided as to get a vortexx neo cooler or not

well ive ordered now, hope i see a nice improvememnt over this 8800GT and hope i get a decent overclock with the vortexx fitted :)
