Hi,

I am about to order the following today so please check my spec. I will use primarily for gaming, but want a fairly quiet system. Do you think I should wait till this afternoon as there are rumours of the new Nvidia cards being available from 1400hrs today?

Also will the Seasonic psu have long enough 12v cables for the P180 case?

Nice setup, not unlike my own :) Only difference being that I chose a Raptor 150GB instead of a Samsung spinpoint. 250GB. The Samsung is still a fine drive though, and is about £150 cheaper.

Don't forget a decent cooler for that opty if you plan OC'ing it.

As for waiting for the new nvidia card to be released today, personally i would not change from the x1900xt to 7900 just because it is nvidias latest offering. I would either hang back a few days till i'd heard/read a good few reviews or go for the tried and tested Ati card. But hey thats me, we're all different ;)

Thanks for the replies, I see you are using the Arctic Freezer Pro 64 , how do you find it? What are your temps? Also does anybody have any experience of the Antec NeoHE 550 Watt Psu?

Arctic Freezer Pro 64 is very good, not loud & cools well. Should allow for some good overclocking on the Opty (great CPU btw). I would go for the X1900XT, especially if keeping the card longer term due to the 48 shaders, likely better on new game engines.

The arctic freezer is very good. With my CPU overclocked from 1.8Ghz to 2.7Ghz and 1.45V it idles at 24C and under load its around 32C. The best cooler around for the price in my opinion, and better than a lot of the more expensive air coolers.
It is also very very quiet. I've fiddled with my PC bit by bit to get it as quiet as possible with air cooling and i cannot hear the Arctic freezer at all. The only sound i get from my PC is sound of the air being pulled and pushed through the grills :)

Can't help you with the Lian Li cases i'm afraid as i've never had one. The 2 cases i've bought recently have been the Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Silver) (CA-039-AN) and Antec SLK3000B Midi Tower Case - No PSU (CA-027-AN) . While the SLK3000B (cheap and cheerful) seems to have very good airflow i wouldnt say it is particularly quiet. There is a big difference with the P180, this is the system i was saying that the only noise i hear is the intake and exhast of air. I changed the fans on both cases for Nexus ones, very very quiet.

The Lian Li V1000 Plus is a nice looking case though :)
